Design

Studded leather accesorries were the main inspiration for this project The intent was to make a statement with crystal-embellished boots.

Concept

The idea that drove the concept was turning snake skin leather patterns into studs. This idea was crucial for the overall project direction. The concept was rendered up and several prototypes were printed in 3D.

Swarowski

Partnering up with Swarovski was a defining moment in the project. The company sponsored clear, back-foiled crystals that were chosen based on their size - ones that best matched the proportions of the shoe.

Elements

The parts were electroplated with gold metallic foil for a polished surface. Crystals were attached on this cradle, which was then attached to the boot.

Boot

Due to time constraints of the project, we used an existing above-the-knee boot from the UN commercial line. A paper pattern of the boot was used to determine how many crystals were needed.

Weartest

Final product was assembled and weartested in an LA studio before shipping off to the stylist.

Approval, shipping

Nicki was excited about the boots. She wore them to perform on Grammy’s awards night.
